Biographies
Lawrence
Edwards, Ph.D. is on the faculty of New York Medical College
and maintains a private practice in Bedford Hills, NY. He did
his doctoral research on Kundalini in the early 1980's at Temple
University. He was the director of a private Jungian psychiatric
treatment center in Connecticut. He prepared to become a monk
under the guidance of Swami Muktananda and spent years teaching
and studying Kundalini yoga in India as well as in the US. He
has run ashrams, meditation centers, meditation programs and retreats
internationally. He served two terms as chairman of the Kundalini
Research Network and is currently on the Board of Directors. His
critically acclaimed book, The Soul's Journey: Guidance From The
Divine Within, (www.thesoulsjourney.com) brings together his professional
background and his extraordinary personal experiences of mystical
states unfolded by Kundalini. It enables readers to grasp their
potential for the direct experience of Divine in their own lives.
He also authored "Meditation as Medicine" in the May 2003 issue
of the journal ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners in which he discusses
the many health benefits of meditation and his research on the
practice of mantra and its effects on heart rate variability.
Linda
Greischel, LCSW, has a private practice as a psychotherapist
and spiritual counselor in the San Diego area. She previously
worked as the counselor for the spirituality program at the Scripps
Center for Integrative Medicine in La Jolla, California, designing
both a multi-faith and nondenominational program for participants.
Her educational and professional background includes a multicultural
perspective, supporting eastern, western, and shamanic traditions,
as well as nondenominational viewpoints. Linda has an undergraduate
degree in religious studies, graduating summa cum laude, and she
will soon complete her Ph.D. in Comparative Religion & Philosophy.
Her book, "Divine Eros: The Alchemy of Soul & Spirit: On Yoga,
Meditation, Mysticism, & the Kundalini Process", will serve as
her doctoral dissertation, representing both scholarly research
and personal/collective experiences. Linda's book, "Mythic Memory:
Remembering the Feminine Soul & Spirit", is a collection of art
and prose that reflect the psychological integration and embodiment
that need to accompany the spiritual journey. She is vice president
on the board for the Kundalini Research Network.
Jay
Lynch, DC is a chiropractor and Qi Gong advanced practitioner
in Amherst Massachussets. He has studied Qi Gong with masters
in China. He is a member of the Board of Directors of KRN.
Judith
Miller, Ph.D. is a psychology professor in the Human Development
Dept.at Columbia University. She also has a clinical practice
where she guides people to expand their spiritual consciousness
and travel a mystical path through the use of Personal Consciousness
Integration. Additionally, she is a faculty member at the School
of Transpersonal Psychology in Freiburg, Germany. Here, she engages
in psycho-spiritual work with children and grandchildren of Nazis
from World War 2. She is the author of Direct Connection, Rutledge
Books (2000) and Personal Consciousness Integration: The Next
Phase of Recovery, (2000), Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal,
Vol. 23, Number 4, 342-352.
Russell
D. Park, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and has
been in private practice in Palo Alto and Sonora, California since
1995. He has worked with adults, couples, and children for 16
years. He is also a certified neurotherapist and biofeedback practitioner.
Dr. Park is a graduate of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology
in Palo Alto, California where he specialized in religious and
spiritual crises and the differential diagnosis from mental disorders.
He is a founding member of the Kundalini Research Network and
for the last 4 years has directed the research efforts for KRN.
In addition, Dr. Park holds a degree in laboratory medicine and
is a non-denominational minister. For the last 16 years he has
taught in South America, Europe and the U.S., together with his
wife, Jyoti, on transformational crises and cross-cultural spiritual
practices.
Jyoti
Prevatt, Ph.D. is internationally known as a spiritual leader
and psychological consultant working with spiritual emergence
as it manifests through the individual and community. Her consistent
focus is to actively affirm our role as guardians of this planet,
consciously creating communities through business and social reform
that bring heart and divine intention to the forefront. Dr. Prevatt
is a member of the Board of Directors of KRN.
Jean
Roberts, RN, is a member of the Religious Society of Friends,
a Quaker group. She had a spontaneous kundalini experience in
1984, which lead her to search for the cause of this powerful
experience. When she became involved in KRN, she began to understand
her experience. She has written articles for Quaker publications
and lead workshops for Quaker gatherings and other organizations
on the topic of kundalini experience. She is a member of the Institute
for Consciousness Research in Canada and currently serves as secretary
and treasurer on the board of KRN.
Dorothy
Walters, Ph.D., formerly a professor of English and Women's
Studies, has published two books inspired by her spiritual awakening:
"Unmasking the Rose: A Record of a Kundalini Initiation," Hampton
Roads, 2002, and "Marrow of Flame: Poems of the Spiritual Journey,"
Hohm Press, 2000 She now lives and writes in San Francisco, where
she also helps others on the path.
Barbara
Harris Whitfield, RT, CMT is a researcher, therapist and author.
She shares a private practice in Atlanta, with her husband Charles
Whitfield, MD helping adults who were traumatized as children.
She presents workshops on near-death experiences, thanatology
(the study of death and dying), and spirituality. Barbara is the
author of many articles and books including Full Circle: The Near-death
Experience and Beyond (Simon and Schuster 1990), Spiritual Awakenings:
Insights of the Near-Death Experience and other Doorways to Our
Soul (Health Communications Inc 1995), Final Passage: Sharing
the Journey as this Life Ends (HCI 1998), and The Power of Humility:
From Conflict to Peace (written with Charles Whitfield, Russell
Park and Jyoti, HCI 2004), and Children of the Solution (HCI in
process). These books are the result of interviewing hundreds
of people on the after effects of their near-death experiences
and spiritual awakenings in general. Barbara has been interviewed
on Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Unsolved Mysteries,
Oprah, Donahue, CNN Medical News, etc. and appeared in many documentaries
for Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, Canada and American Television.
She is member of the Board of Directors of KRN and has sat on
the executive board of the International Association for Near-Death
Studies. She is a consulting editor and contributor for the Journal
of Near-Death Studies.
